Cross Stitch and Needle Arts / Beyond Cross Stitch
Taught by Thea Dueck

The Loop Stitch is a lovely silk ribbon embroidery stitch that creates soft, rounded loops that stand above the surface of the fabric. Its three-dimensional appearance makes it especially attractive for creating delicate flower petals, tiny buds, and textured floral accents. When worked with silk ribbon, the loops have a beautiful softness and natural sheen that add depth and charm to your embroidery.
This intermediate silk ribbon embroidery course is designed for stitchers who have some experience with basic surface embroidery and would like to expand their skills. You'll enjoy step-by-step video lessons, along with helpful downloadable documents, including Stitching Basics. I'll show you how to form the loops, control the ribbon's tension, and secure your stitches to create lovely, consistent shapes.
By varying the size of your loops and arranging them in different ways, you can create charming little blossoms, clusters of petals, or interesting textured effects. You can also combine Loop Stitches with other silk ribbon techniques to create beautiful floral arrangements. With a little practice, you'll discover how these simple loops can bring wonderful dimension to your needlework!
You don't need to know counted cross stitching on linen to enjoy this course. Silk ribbon embroidery allows you to work freely on your fabric without counting threads, giving you plenty of opportunities to experiment with colour, texture, and design.
Join me as we explore the Loop Stitch together, practising on a doodle cloth at your own pace. Enjoy learning this delightful technique, and feel free to share your stitching progress and finished work on social media. I'd love to see what you create!
