Cross Stitch and Needle Arts / Beyond Cross Stitch
Taught by Thea Dueck
This is a bundle of nine courses are designed for stitchers who would like to explore the beauty of free-form and silk ribbon embroidery while learning 9 useful and decorative stitches. You'll enjoy step-by-step video lessons, along with helpful downloadable documents, including Stitching Basics. I'll show you how to form the alternating stitches, control the tension of your ribbon, and create graceful, flowing lines that give your embroidery a natural appearance.
One of the pleasures of free form stitches is their versatility. You can work them in straight or gently curved lines, vary the spacing between stitches, or change the length of the branches to create different effects. Silk ribbon can often create beautiful flowers and leaves. With a little practice, you'll discover how easily these stitches can add movement, texture, and charm to your needlework. Add some free-form stitches to your counted work for variety and playfulness. They look wonderful together!
You don't need to know counted cross stitching on linen to enjoy this course. Free-form and silk ribbon embroidery allows you to stitch more freely, following the shapes and curves of your design rather than counting fabric threads. It's a wonderful opportunity to experiment with colour, texture, and your own creative ideas!
Join me as we practice these nine stitches on a doodle cloth at your own pace. Enjoy learning something new, and feel free to share your stitching progress and finished work on social media. I'd love to see what you create!
